We've been repairing pool equipment across Granbury and Hood County for over two decades. Granbury is built around the lake rather than out from a downtown, which means the neighborhoods are spread out and most of them are waterfront or golf communities. It also means a lot of pools sit on sloping lots with long equipment runs, and hard water out here is tougher on cells and heat exchangers than it is closer in to Fort Worth.

Pecan Plantation is effectively its own town: gated, self-contained, sitting on the Brazos southeast of Granbury with two golf courses, a marina, stables and its own airstrip. The pools here range from 1970s originals to recent custom builds, which is a very wide spread of equipment to carry parts for. The older sections are where we do the most full pad replacement work, and the newer Cottages and Park Place builds are mostly automation and heater calls.
Harbor Lakes

The golf course community just outside downtown Granbury, and the address we get called to most often out here. Homes run from the mid $200Ks up past a million, so the equipment varies a lot street to street. What they have in common is age: most of Harbor Lakes went in during the 2000s boom, which puts a large number of these pools right at the point where the original pump, heater and light are all reaching end of life within a couple of years of each other.

The lakefront subdivisions ringing Lake Granbury. Waterfront lots mean sloping ground, retaining walls and equipment pads that are often a long way from the pool, and all three of those make a leak harder to find and a pump harder to prime. We also see more corrosion out here than we do inland, because equipment sitting near open water in Texas summer heat does not get an easy life.

DeCordova is one of the oldest planned communities on the lake and the pools reflect that. A lot of these are original gunite shells with plumbing that has been patched and rerouted over forty years, which is where most of our structural and leak work in Granbury comes from. Canyon Creek and the surrounding estate neighborhoods are newer and larger, usually with a spa and a heater tied into some form of automation.

Hard water is the quiet killer of pool heaters out here. Scale builds up inside the heat exchanger, the unit has to work harder to move heat into the water, and eventually it starts short-cycling or throwing a fault rather than holding temperature. Catching that before the exchanger is damaged is the difference between a service and a replacement. This one was at a home in Harbor Lakes. Scale is the thing we check for first on any pool heater repair out this way.

Pumps on lake lots often sit further from the pool than they would on a flat suburban build, and a longer suction run is less forgiving of a tired seal or a small air leak. The symptom is usually a pump that struggles to prime in the morning or loses prime part way through a cycle. Working out whether that is the pump or something upstream of it comes first on every pool pump repair we take.
GFCI and Pool Light Fault - Harbor Lakes
A GFCI that keeps tripping is doing its job. It is telling you current is going somewhere it should not, and on a pool that usually means moisture has found its way into a light fixture or a junction box. Debris packs into a return, a suction line silts up, or a section that has never run properly since it was built finally blocks completely. Blowing the lines clear tells you which one it is, and on this Pecan Plantation pool that was the whole job. Blocked lines are the most common pool plumbing repair we get called out for.
