Losing water is the problem people describe. Finding out where it is going is the actual job. Evaporation, a leaking spa, a cracked underground line and a bad seal at the pump all look identical from the deck. On this Monserrat spa the leak was in the plumbing behind the stone, so a section of the facing came off to get at it. Nobody enjoys opening up finished stonework, which is exactly why you locate the leak properly first instead of guessing and taking apart the wrong wall. Finding it before you start opening things up is the whole point of pool leak detection.
Pool Motor Replacement - Lake Vista
Heat is a common cause of motor failure. Motors sit in full Texas sun, run long hours through summer, and the bearings go long before the pump housing does. The warning is usually noise. A motor that has started to whine or rumble is telling you it has weeks left, not months. Replacing it at that point is straightforward. Waiting until it seizes on a July weekend is how you end up with a green pool as well as a dead pump. Catching it at the noise stage is what keeps a pool pump repair from becoming a replacement.
Pool Coping Repair - Hulen Heights

Sometimes the motor is not the only thing gone. When the wet end has cracked, the basket housing has warped, or the whole unit is old enough that parts are getting hard to find, replacing the pump outright is the cheaper answer over any sensible timeframe. This McPherson Ranch pool got a new Jandy. The upside of doing the whole unit is that you get current efficiency and a warranty that covers all of it, rather than a new motor bolted to a tired housing. Whether it is worth repairing or replacing is the first call we make on any pool pump repair.
Pool Plumbing Repair - Monarch Hills
Plumbing repairs are the ones people dread because they picture the whole deck coming up. Most of the time it does not come to that. The joints at the equipment pad take the most stress and see the most sun, so that is where a lot of failures show up, and that is all above ground. This Monarch Hills job was pipework at the pad. The bigger point is that a slow leak underground shows up on your water bill long before you see it anywhere else, so it is worth reading the meter. Often, pool plumbing repair can be done at the pad rather than under the deck.
Booster Pump Replacement - Harbour View Estates
The booster pump only exists to drive your pressure side cleaner, and because the pool keeps filtering without it, people run them dry for months without realising. That is what kills them. If your cleaner has got sluggish or stopped altogether, the booster is the first thing to check, not the cleaner itself. This one at Harbour View Estates needed replacing outright. It is the same family of work as any other pool pump repair, just the smaller of the two pumps.
Filter and Motor Replacement - Park Glen
These two often fail together, and not by coincidence. A filter that has been left too long makes the pump push against a restriction for months, which runs the motor hot and shortens its life. So when we get called out for a dead motor and find a filter that should have been replaced years ago, doing only one of them is asking for a repeat visit. Park Glen got both, which is the fix that actually holds. Doing the pool filter repair at the same time is what stops the new motor going the same way.
Pump Motor Diagnosis - Forest Hill
Worth knowing what the noises mean, because they point at different parts and different bills. A hum with no rotation is usually electrical, often the capacitor. A grinding or rumbling sound while it runs is bearings. Sweep Pump Hose Repair - Lake Vista
Before you replace a cleaner that has stopped working properly, check the hose. They split at the connections, they go stiff after a few summers in the sun, and a small leak in the line means the cleaner never gets the pressure it needs to move around the pool. People replace whole cleaners over this. On this Lake Vista pool it was the hose, which is a far smaller job than the one the homeowner was expecting. Hoses and fittings are the cheap end of pool pump repair and always worth checking first.
Air Relief Replacement - Summer Creek
On this Summer Creek pool the cracked air relief was replaced before it broke off completely and drained the pool, and a new pressure gauge went in too. The air relief valve on top of your filter lets trapped air bleed out of the tank, and it sits right next to the pressure gauge you should be checking. Those small plastic fittings take sun and pressure every day, and once one cracks it can snap off while the pump is running and push pool water out of the tank. Check Valve Repair - Trace Ridge
We repaired the check valve on this Trace Ridge pool, and water is flowing properly between the pool and spa again. A check valve is a one way gate in your plumbing. On a pool and spa combo it keeps water from draining back or flowing the wrong way when the system switches modes or shuts off. When one sticks or fails, you might see the spa level dropping into the pool, the pump losing prime overnight, or water not going where it should when you change modes. Chlorinator Repair - Rollins Hills Estates
On this Rollins Hills Estates pool a new feeder valve was installed inline on the PVC plumbing, restoring proper chlorine feed to the pool. An inline chlorinator feeds chlorine from tablets into the return line, and the small control valve on its side sets how much water, and so how much chlorine, passes through. When that valve cracks, sticks or leaks, you end up with either almost no chlorine or far too much, and the water chemistry never seems to settle. Filter Clean & Grid Replacement - Overton Woods
On this Overton Woods pool the grids were cleaned and the torn one replaced, so the filter can hold pressure and trap debris properly again. A DE filter works by coating a set of fabric grids with filter powder, so the grids are the part doing the real work. Once a grid tears, dirty water and DE can slip through, and you may notice cloudy water or DE puffing back into the pool after a backwash. Filter Clean - Hecken Ranch Estates
During this Hecken Ranch Estates filter clean, the old DE grid assembly turned out to be torn and no longer filtering properly, so a replacement assembly went in along with the cleaning. If your pool water stays hazy no matter how much chemical goes in, check the filter before you blame the chemistry. A DE filter traps fine debris on a set of fabric grids, and when that fabric tears or a frame breaks, debris goes straight through and back into the pool. Freeze Damage Repair - Mira Vista
On this Mira Vista pool the cracked plumbing on the equipment pad was repaired, the spa was cleaned up, and the stone fountain was cleared of algae buildup. Freeze damage on pool equipment often shows up once the weather warms: a cracked pipe or fitting, a split pump housing, or water spraying at the pad the first time the system runs. Water left sitting in exposed plumbing, or in a fountain or water feature that does not drain, expands as it freezes and cracks whatever is holding it. Pump Repair - The Bluffs at Tehama Ridge
On this pool in The Bluffs at Tehama Ridge the pump was repaired, and water is moving through the system again with the waterfall and deck jets running strong. When a pump stops moving water, the cause is often simpler than a dead pump. A clogged strainer basket, an air leak at the lid or suction side, a failed capacitor or a jammed impeller can all leave you with weak flow or none at all. A pump that hums but will not spin points toward the motor or capacitor, while one that runs but will not prime usually has an air leak or a blockage. Pump Replacement - Ridglea Country Club Estates
On this Ridglea Country Club Estates pool both jobs were done in one visit: a new filter pump motor and a complete new Polaris sweep booster pump. A pressure side pool cleaner runs off its own booster pump, a small separate pump that only powers the sweep. That means your pool can filter fine while the cleaner sits still, or the other way around. Salt Cell Replacement - Chisholm Ridge
On this Chisholm Ridge pool the old cell had yellowed and worn out, so it was swapped for a new one at the equipment pad, and chlorine generation is back to full strength. A salt cell makes chlorine by passing current across coated plates, and that coating wears away with use. Low chlorine readings even when salt levels are right, a control panel asking you to check or inspect the cell, and scale that keeps coming back soon after cleaning are all signs a cell is near the end. Salt System Installation - Hulen Heights
On this Hulen Heights pool a salt system was added, the rusted-out old heater was replaced with a new Jandy gas heater, and a new blower went in. Switching to salt means a generator on your equipment pad makes chlorine from salt dissolved in the water, so you stop buying and handling tablets or liquid chlorine day to day. Because adding a salt system means cutting into the plumbing, it is also a good moment to look over everything else on the pad and deal with anything that is failing in the same visit, rather than opening things up twice. Pool Pump Motor Replacement - Rollins Hills Estates
On this Rollins Hills Estates pool the old rusted two speed motor came off and a new Century motor went on, and circulation is back to normal. A two speed motor gives you a low setting for everyday filtering and a high setting for vacuuming, spa jets or water features, so when it fails you lose both. Rust on the motor case is worth taking seriously, because once moisture reaches the windings and bearings, failure is usually close. If the pump housing and impeller are still sound, replacing just the motor is often the sensible fix instead of buying a whole new pump.
